Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC)

Elijah Institute of Management Studies (ELIMS), Thrissur, has been officially approved as an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) under the Kerala Start-up Mission (KSUM). This milestone marks a significant step in fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students. The IEDC at ELIMS aims to encourage creative thinking, nurture start-up ideas, and provide mentorship and support for aspiring student entrepreneurs. With this initiative, ELIMS strengthens its commitment to developing future-ready leaders and innovators who can make a meaningful impact in the business world.

MISSION

To develop a business network with required infrastructure that can enable stakeholders to innovate and prototype their potential ideas catering to industrial standards with support from the Government, industry and reputed academic institutions around the world thereby helping them to set up new benchmarks in the world of business.

VISION

To be a self-sustained business incubator nurturing and empowering aspiring women entrepreneurs with innovative ideas of social relevance, encouraging a culture of entrepreneurship to promote national, economic and social growth of the Nation.
Objectives of the IEDC
  • Serve as an institutional mechanism offering diverse services, including guidance on all facets of establishing enterprises
  • Foster an entrepreneurial ethos within the Parent Institution and neighbouring establishments in the region
  • Instil a culture of innovation-driven entrepreneurship through student projects.
  • Address emerging challenges and opportunities pertaining to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and micro-enterprises with agility and efficacy.

Functions of IEDC:

  • Host workshops like Entrepreneurship Awareness Camps, Entrepreneurship Development Programs, Faculty Development Programs, and Skill Development Programs
  • Facilitate interactions between entrepreneurs and students, establishing mentorship programs for student entrepreneurs.
  • Advocate for the importance of entrepreneurship to the institution’s management, integrating entrepreneurial activities with the host institution’s operations.
  • Spreading awareness about entrepreneurship to nearby schools and polytechnics.

The IEDC ELIMS conducts various programs such as idea pitching, workshops, hackathons, etc., to enhance students’ skills. Additionally, it facilitates interactions with entrepreneurs, allowing students to discuss their questions and ideas about startups.
